At the heart of Gio’s Deli is a simple idea: bring the warmth, flavour, and community spirit of a traditional Italian deli to the centre of Clitheroe.
Founded by Joseph Lanzante, Gio’s was built from a genuine passion for food, hospitality, and Italian heritage. Growing up, Joseph spent his early years working in restaurants alongside his family, where he developed a deep appreciation for authentic cooking and the importance of sharing food with others.
Although his career later took him into business, becoming the founder of The Men’s Room barber shops in Whalley and Clitheroe, his connection to food never left. During lockdown, when the barber shops were forced to close, Joseph returned to his roots—launching a street food pizza business serving fresh, authentic Italian food to the local community. What started as a small catering venture quickly grew, evolving into something bigger.
Our Story
Gio’s Deli is the natural next step in that journey.
Located on New Market Street, the deli was created to offer something different to the local food scene. While many cafés follow the same formula, Gio’s focuses on quality, simplicity, and authenticity—importing produce from Italy and preparing fresh food with care. From focaccia sandwiches and homemade pasta to espresso and pastries, everything reflects traditional Italian flavours and a passion for doing things properly.
Today, Gio’s Deli stands as a little corner of Italy in the heart of Clitheroe—a place where people come together for great food, good coffee, and a welcoming atmosphere.
Because for Joseph, it’s never just been about opening a deli.
It’s about sharing a way of life
